Pick-Up & Drop-Off Info

For Camp West Mar - Before Care begins at 7am and ends at 8am.  The buses will be leaving for camp at 8am as our camp day operates from 9am to 4pm and we want to make sure we have plenty of time for all of our activities.  At 4pm we will begin our bus ride back to Staley Park and plan to arrive as close to 5pm as possible.  After Care at Staley Park continues until 6pm when our camp day concludes.  Overnight campers will ride the bus on Monday morning and Friday afternoon with the same schedule.

Our camp day will start and end at Staley Park. All campers will be dropped off and picked up at Staley Park Pavilion (11 W 10th St, Frederick, MD 21701 – near the intersection of Motter Avenue and West 10th Street). We use a school-style process where we ask drivers to remain in their cars when dropping off or picking up. Please do not park in front of or enter the Staley Building on 10th Street. We will be utilizing the Kosman Alley alongside Staley Park as the drop off and pick up zone. Please enter the alley from 10th Street, heading north, as it is a narrow alleyway. Follow signage and camp staff direction. We ask for your patience over the first few weeks of camp and on Monday of each week as families familiarize themselves with the process.

If it is more convenient for you to drop off at Camp West Mar, you may drop off between 7:30am and 9am and pick up from 4 to 4:30 in cabin 6.  As you enter camp, follow the main road into camp and take a right just after the orange caboose.  Cabin 6 is at the end of the field straight ahead.

Meals for Campers

Sample menu for Overnight Camp. Day Campers will eat the same lunches as Overnight Campers.

Medications & Accommodations

All prescription and over-the-counter medication requires an additional form (Medication Administration Authorization Form) to be signed by a Physician prior to the beginning of camp. This form must accompany the medication when it is checked in by staff at camp. The Medication Administration Authorization Form is available to download above.

Please note any special medication needs when filling out your child’s health form online, and make sure medication is given to Y Staff with complete instructions for its administration. Instructions need to be written on the medication bottle and sent along with a list of possible side effects. This information can be obtained from your doctor or pharmacist.

Please be sure to talk to the Y Staff if you have any special concerns/accommodations for your child. The Y Staff are trained to accommodate a wide range of medical needs and concerns, but disclosure of these issues on the Health Form allows staff to prepare appropriately. Failure to fully disclose all issues may result in your child not being able to fully participate and enjoy the experience of camp.

DO NOT SEND valuables with your camper. Campers are prohibited from using electronics. The YMCA is not liable for lost, damaged, or stolen items.

Can we swim yet?

West Mar campers suit up daily for a dip in the pool. Unless of course there is inclement weather. Our lifeguards are Red Cross certified guards and Camp Counselors act as 'watchers' when assigned. (Mermaid sightings not guaranteed.)
